The analyses focused in the visit of the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, M. Pezeshkian, to Moscow for the long-awaited signing of the Strategic Partnership Agreement with the Russian Federation. The main internal and external factors influencing the areas of foreign policy of the IRI and, in particular, the continuing cooperation with the Russian Federation in different spheres, is the core point of the research.
It is important for Ukraine that within the framework of the agreement, Iran does not intend to recognize Crimea and other temporarily occupied Ukrainian territories as Russian, no matter how much Moscow insists on this. M. Pezeshkian also spoke about Russia's war against Ukraine during the negotiations, stating that military actions are not a solution to the issue. «We welcome the political settlement between Ukraine and Russia,» the Iranian president noted.
At the same time, Iran's partnership with Russia, despite the weakening of Tehran's positions in the Middle East after the fall of the Bashar Assad regime in Syria, is of concern to the West. Similarly, the cooperation of authoritarian regimes, the Russian Federation and Iran in particular, poses a significant threat to Ukraine, despite the Iranian side's constant statements about the «desire for peace».
