The paper highlights the key challenges of the professional adaptation of war veterans to the realities of civilian life, which need to be mitigated, and the promising trends, which need to be reinforced for achieving the effective job placement and self-employment provisions. The main measures increasing the interest of both veterans and active servicemen in starting their own business and developing entrepreneurship were analysed. It was proved that improving the information for veterans about the possibilities for training and retraining by most needed occupations is necessary to consider. Besides, main initiatives aimed on supporting of the growth of competitiveness of veterans and active servicemen at the labour market were presented. The information about the possibilities of the confirmation / verification of the professional qualifications obtained on the bases of the non-formal training in the qualification centres was provided in the paper. Given the above considerations, the necessity for using the different sources for the dissemination of the information about the existing possibilities of the retraining and confirmation / verification of obtained professional qualifications was justified in the paper.
