On May 21, 2021, Oleksandr Lytvynenko, Director of the National Institute for Strategic Studies (NISS), and Oleh Sinaiko, Deputy Director of the Institute, at the invitation of the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China to Ukraine H.E. Mr. Fan Xianrong visited the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Ukraine.
The meeting with the Ambassador and representatives of the Embassy was of an introductory and consultative nature. Oleksandr Lytvynenko acquainted the audience with the history, tasks and directions of research of the National Institute for Strategic Studies, the latest analytical developments and current projects for the development of strategies for the further development of Ukraine.
The parties discussed the prospects of bilateral relations between Ukraine and China and the further development of cooperation between the two countries in various fields. In this regard, the need to deepen cooperation between expert circles of both countries was noted.
During the meeting, the possibilities of expanding the cooperation of NISS with similar analytical structures of China in order to exchange expertise and possible development of joint projects on issues relevant to Ukraine and China in areas of mutual interest were discussed. Mr. Fan Xiangong made suggestions for the Chinese Embassy in Ukraine to mediate in establishing NISD contacts with China's major “think tanks”.
