Monitoring, Modeling & Management of Emergent Economy: NISS employee Ivan Us made a report at the international scientific conference

On May 26, 2021, Ivan Us, Chief Consultant of the NISS Center for Foreign Policy Studies, made a report at the Ninth International Scientific Conference «Monitoring, Modeling & Management of Emergent Economy (M3E2)». This report is based on an article prepared in co-authorship with Svitlana Radzievska, Associate Professor of the Department of International Economic Relations at the National Academy of Management, devoted to foreign trade in goods of Ukraine in 2000-2020.

In his report, Ivan Us considered three aspects, namely:

  • the geographical and commodity structure of foreign trade in goods of Ukraine in 2000-2019;
  • trends in world trade in goods in 2020;
  • dynamics of Ukraine's foreign trade in goods in 2020.

Special emphasis was placed on the fact that the most significant reduction in trade both worldwide and in Ukraine during 2020 occurred in April and May, which indicates a close connection between Ukraine's economy with the world economy. In addition, the study notes a direct relationship between trade volumes and the value of the foreign trade balance, when a reduction in trade leads to an improvement in the balance, while an increase in its volume leads to an increase in the size of the negative balance.

As a result of the scientific conference, it is planned to publish a special edition, which is indexed in the international scientific databases Scopus and Web of Science Core Collection.
