Oleksandra Davymuka, expert of the National Institute for Strategic Studies, took part in the NATO’s Summer Academy for young Ukrainian specialists «YOUNG UA Summer Academy 2019»

Oleksandra Davymuka, expert of the National Institutefor Strategic Studies, took part in the NATO’s Summer Academy for young Ukrainian specialists «YOUNG UA Summer Academy 2019». 

The following project is oriented towards professional training of a young generation of Ukrainian civil servants. The summer academy is conducted due to the support of the NATO-Ukraine Professional Development Programme and the Government Office for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration.

During an opening ceremony of the summer academy participants were greeted by Alexander Vinnikov, head of the NATO Representation to Ukraine and principal of the NATO Liaison Office (NLO) in Ukraine, Oleksiy Genchev, responsible for direction of sectorial cooperation with the NATO at the Government Office for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration, and Ove Urup-Madsen – manager at the NATO-Ukraine Professional Development Programme.

NATO’s Summer Academy for young Ukrainian specialists «YOUNG UA Summer Academy 2019»

During a week young specialists attended lectures and participated in discussions, dedicated to the topic of collaboration between the NATO and Ukraine, and reform of the defence and security sector, as well as  public service in Ukraine.  Lectures for young specialists were read by the following speakers: Barbora Maronkova, director of the NATO Information and Documentation Centre in Ukraine, Bogdan Lazaroae, director of the NATO’s Project Office and Transition Office of the NATO Headquarters, Phil Jones, former UK defence adviser, Stephen Silverstein, senior adviser of the US Embassy at the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine, Felix Odartey-Wellington, representative of Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) Mission in Ukraine “Unifier”, and others.

In frames of numerous workshop activities young civil servants had an opportunity to improve their skills in leadership, crisis management, team-work and efficient communication. After the training week was over, participants received certificates for successful completion of studying program in frames of the summer academia, also they’ve become official graduates of the NATO’s Summer Academy for young Ukrainian specialists «YOUNG UA Summer Academy 2019», and thus they’ve joined a community of young leaders in the public sector of Ukraine.
